Description
The Lark 10x50 is a Porro-prism binocular with 50 mm objectives and 10x magnification. It is one of the most common binocular formats for astronomy, because it balances magnification, field of view, and weight in a way that suits most observers.
The 5 mm exit pupil works well for observers of any age and under suburban skies, where a larger exit pupil would mostly brighten the background. At 10x, the Moon shows its larger craters and maria clearly, Jupiter shows up to four moons in a line, and many open clusters resolve into individual stars.
With a 5.6-degree true field, the Lark 10x50 frames objects such as the Double Cluster, the Beehive Cluster, and the region around the Orion Nebula. Many Messier objects are within reach under dark skies, including the brighter globular clusters and galaxies such as M81 and M82, which appear as small, faint patches.
The higher magnification makes hand shake more visible than in a 7x binocular. Bracing your elbows or using a tripod adapter steadies the view and shows noticeably fainter stars. The tripod socket between the barrels takes a standard L-shaped adapter.
The BaK-4 prisms produce round exit pupils, and the main optical surfaces are multi-coated to reduce reflections. At 980 g, the Lark 10x50 is light enough for travel and for daytime use. The central focus wheel moves both sides together, while a diopter ring on the right eyepiece corrects for differences between your eyes.
To get the most from the Lark 10x50, let your eyes adapt to the dark for at least 20 minutes and avoid white light. A red flashlight and a printed star chart are enough to find dozens of clusters and nebulae in a season.
About this configuration
The Corvane Lark 10x50 binoculars comes in several configurations, and the notes below explain what this particular combination includes. This package contains the binoculars with their strap, lens caps, and case, without any mounting hardware. If you later want steadier views, the tripod socket between the barrels accepts a standard L-shaped adapter. Fully multi-coated optics treat every air-to-glass surface, which raises light transmission and image contrast.
Black rubber armor protects the body from knocks and gives a firm grip when your hands are cold. The 2025 edition keeps the same optical figures as the earlier years of the Lark line. The magnification, field, and exit pupil figures in the specifications table apply to every configuration of the Lark line.
